Spring fever in the AMC
At the cross-project workshop in Munich, the subprojects were able to get closer during slow dating.
At the end of April, 75 scientists of the Collaborative Research Center Transregio 277 Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC) met in Munich to determine in-depth cooperation possibilities of their subprojects and to define the orientation of the AMC for the 2nd funding phase. The focus of the two days was on networking within the AMC. The subprojects of the Focus Areas A, B and C met in so-called “slow dates” every 30 minutes to define and determine common points of contact and meaningful collaborations. The focus was less on as many collaborations as possible, but more on the quality of the networking and the meaningful incorporation of this into the AMC.
After two days of intensive discussions, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Annika Raatz, AMC Board Member, stated: “It was a very informative and intensive meeting, with many exciting discussions and interesting insights into the sub-projects of the AMC. Often, one only has the own field of research in mind, but examining this view again and again for connecting points enables new perspectives that lead to innovative findings. The interdisciplinary AMC unfolds its full potential at such workshops, one of the strengths of the Collaborative Research Center.”
In addition to the in-depth discussions during the Slow Dating, the spokesperson and co-spokesperson of the AMC, Harald Kloft and Kathrin Dörfler presented the essential direction of the Collaborative Research Center for the four-year second funding phase. The topic of sustainability in particular is to be given even more space in the AMC. A new subproject, which advises and examines the previous research on topics of ecological, economic and social orientation, is to take this socially relevant topic into account.
The next meeting of the AMC in the summer of 2022 has set itself the goal of making each subproject fit and aligned for the second funding phase. It remains exciting at the AMC and its basic research.

Frühlingsgefühle im AMC – Beim Cross-Project-Workshop in München konnten sich die Teilprojekte während des Slow Datings näherkommen
Ende April trafen sich 75 Wissenschaftler*innen des Sonderforschungsbereichs Transregio 277 Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC) in München, um vertiefte Kooperationsmöglichkeiten ihrer Teilprojekte zu bestimmen und die Ausrichtung des AMC für die 2. Förderphase abzustecken. Im Zentrum der zwei Tage stand die Vernetzung innerhalb des AMCs. Die Teilprojekte der Fokus Areas A, B und C trafen sich bei sogenannten „Slow Dates“ im 30-Minuten-Takt, um gemeinsame Anknüpfungspunkte und sinnvolle Zusammenarbeiten zu definieren und festzulegen. Der Fokus lag dabei weniger auf möglichst vielen Kooperationen, sondern verstärkt auf der Qualität der Vernetzung und der sinnvollen Einbringung dieser in den AMC.
Nach zwei Tagen intensiven Gesprächen stellte Prof. Dr.-Ing. Annika Raatz, AMC Board Member fest: „Es war ein sehr aufschlussreiches und intensives Meeting, mit vielen spannenden Gesprächen und interessanten Einblicken, in die Teilprojekte des AMC. Oftmals hat man nur das eigene Forschungsfeld im Blick, den eigenen Blick jedoch immer wieder zu heben und auf Anknüpfungspunkte hin zu untersuchen ermöglicht neue Perspektiven, die zu innovativen Erkenntnissen führen. Der interdisziplinare AMC entfaltet bei solchen Workshops sein volles Potential, eine der Stärken des Sonderforschungsbereichs.“
Neben den ausführlichen Gesprächen während des Slow Datings, wurde vom Sprecher und der Co-Sprecherin des AMC, Harald Kloft und Kathrin Dörfler die wesentliche Ausrichtung des Sonderforschungsbereiches für die vierjährige, zweite Förderphase vorgestellt. Besonders das Thema Nachhaltigkeit soll noch mehr Raum im AMC erhalten. Ein neues Teilprojekt, dass die bisherige Forschung auf Themen der ökologischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Ausrichtung hin berät und untersucht, soll diesem gesellschaftlichen relevanten Thema Rechnung tragen.
Das nächste Treffen des AMC im Sommer 2022 hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, jedes Teilprojekt für die zweite Förderphase fit zu machen und auszurichten. Es bleibt spannend beim AMC und seiner Grundlagenforschung.
