Focus Area Project: Project C 02

M. Sc. Philipp Jakobs
Philipp Jakobs is a doctoral candidate and research associate at the Chair of Structural Analysis at the TUM School of Engineering and Design, supervised by Prof. Dr. Roland Wüchner. His research is dedicated to advancing a Continuous Optimization Approach within the framework of the C02 project. With a strong background in computational mechanics and structural optimisation, his work complements the effort to formulate a Holistic Design Framework (HDF), integrating architectural, structural, and fabrication considerations to advance design solutions for additively manufactured structures.
Dr.-Ing. Reza Najian Asl
Reza is postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Structural Analysis, Prof. K.-U. Bletzinger. Having carried out successfully a number of projects, mainly from the industry, he has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in numerical analysis, design and optimization of coupled problems. In the frame of C02, he is developing software and methods for multi-disciplinary multi-scale optimization with special considerations for Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC). His contributions can be applied in all stages of the development cycle including manufacturing constraints.
M. Sc. Christiane Richter
Christiane Richter is a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Professorship of Structural Design at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Pierluigi D'Acunto, she is conducting research within the C02 project. With a solid foundation in structural engineering and expertise in concrete Additive Manufacturing, her primary focus lies in formulating a Holistic Design Framework (HDF). This framework integrates architectural, structural, and fabrication considerations to derive optimal design solutions for additively manufactured structures.Node-Based Shape Optimization and Mechanical Test Validation of Complex Metal Components and Support Structures, Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

M. Sc. Franziska Wahl
has a background in lightweight structures' design and computational mechanics. Currently, she is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Structural Analysis at TU Braunschweig with a focus on embedded finite element techniques and applications in multi-physics simulations and structural optimization. Within project C02, Franziska mainly contributes to the high-fidelity optimization approach.
Dr.-Ing. Suneth Warnakulasuriya
He is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Computational Simulation Lab at the Chair of Structural Analysis, Technical University of Munich. With a robust background in computational mechanics, structural mechanics, optimization, and fluid dynamics, his research centers on advancing and implementing cutting-edge continuous optimization techniques within the framework of the C02 project. In addition to his academic leadership, he serves as a technical committee member of the open-source KRATOS Multiphysics finite element framework, which plays a pivotal role in the development efforts of the C02 project.
