Additive Manufacturing in Construction
AMC TRR 277

Bereich: Focus Area C

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patrick Schwerdtner

is superviser of project C06 and leads one of the Doc. researchers especially concerning the selection and assessment of parameters and the basic layout of the process analysis. His expertise is used to develop (new) process models and innovative delivery approaches in the later phase. He is also responsible for the overall coordination of project C06 and the projects belonging to different Work Programmes ( 1.1, 2.1 and 3.).

M. Sc. Martin Slepicka

is developing a data structure and corresponding methods (WP 2) that enable a closed chain between digital design (e.g. BIM) and digital manufacturing (mainly Additive Manufacturing). For backwards communication of "as-built" information during and after a manufacturing process, digital twin methods are incorporated into the developed FIM system (WP 3).

M. Sc. Daniel Talke

is a doctoral researcher and expert on additive manufacturing in construction. His previous work includes extrusion as well as selective binding processes of concrete. He will be responsible at TUM-HBB for all the collaborative work to be executed in conjunction with WKI in project A08, especially for WP 2.

M. Sc. Julian Tesche

is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Structural Design (ITE) at TU Braunschweig. In project C06, he is working closely with the Digital Construction Site to develop integrated computational design and fabrication strategies for Additive Manufacturing in cyber-physical systems. Furthermore, he will apply these strategies in a multi-member workflow and realize them on a 1:1 scale in collaboration with other subprojects.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Charlotte Thiel

is Professor of „Construction Materials “ at Regensburg University of Applied Sciences. She is Head of Concrete Laboratory and Head of Construction Materials Laboratory. Furthermore she coordinates all scientific and organisational work regarding testing and material modelling.

M. Sc. Jan Thormählen

Jan Thormählen is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Construction Engineering and Management. In project C06, he is collaborating with the Digital Construction Site (DCS) to develop fabrication strategies and streamlined production processes for additive manufacturing. This involves a comparative analysis with conventional construction processes and working strategies to enhance productivity. Consequently, the implementation of additive manufacturing in construction will be facilitated by enhancing the integration of digital processes.

M. Sc. Simon Vilgertshofer

is a research associate and group leader at the Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation and co-supervises the research especially in WP2, WP 3 and parts of WP 4.

M. Sc. Franziska Wahl

has a background in lightweight structures' design and computational mechanics. Currently, she is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Structural Analysis at TU Braunschweig with a focus on embedded finite element techniques and applications in multi-physics simulations and structural optimization. Within project C02, Franziska mainly contributes to the high-fidelity optimization approach.

Dr.-Ing. Suneth Warnakulasuriya

He is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Computational Simulation Lab at the Chair of Structural Analysis, Technical University of Munich. With a robust background in computational mechanics, structural mechanics, optimization, and fluid dynamics, his research centers on advancing and implementing cutting-edge continuous optimization techniques within the framework of the C02 project. In addition to his academic leadership, he serves as a technical committee member of the open-source KRATOS Multiphysics finite element framework, which plays a pivotal role in the development efforts of the C02 project.

M. Sc. Hendrik Weigel

is a research associate at iBMB, Division of Concrete Construction of TU Braunschweig. He is responsible for experimental, theoretical and numerical research work.
